Greetings West Dover Families,

We had a fantastic evening on Thursday April 25. Our mathematics curriculum night provided a chance for families to see some of the ways that we are engaging children in mathematics learning. Afterwards we met in the gym for a presentation by Chandra Crawford who won a gold medal in cross country skiing at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. Chandra shared her story about resiliency and mental health.

A few things coming up in the coming weeks. Our school has been working with Everactive Schools, a branch of the Health and Physical Education Council of the Alberta Teachers Association, to help support student learning around resiliency this school year. On Monday May 13, our school leadership student club will be leading a day of resiliency based activities to all students in the school.

This coming week we have a big day coming up on Thursday, May 2.  All of our regular program classes will be going to Tyrell Museum in Drumheller.  Please make sure you return the permission forms.  On Thursday morning we are asking students to be at school at about 7:30 so that we can load the buses at 8am.  We will be returning late from Drumheller.  Buses will be leaving Drumheller at 2:15 and arrive at school at 4pm. Also, on May 2, our EES classes will be having a full day field trip to the Calgary Zoo. Thank you to School Council for helping to make these special learning experiences possible.

And then on Thursday, May 30 we will be hosting our Spring Concert.

Looking forward to another fantastic week of learning

Roy Strum, Principal
