Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,

To balance enrolment at schools in east and northeast Calgary, CBE will implement a grade configuration change at Erin Woods, Valley View, West Dover and Ian Bazalgette Schools starting Sept. 2024. These changes will help balance system enrolment and allow more students to attend school closer to home.

Grade Configuration Changes at Erin Woods School:

• Erin Woods School will expand from a kindergarten to Grade 5 school to a kindergarten to Grade 6 school in the 2024-25 school year.
• This means that current Grade 5 students will remain at Erin Woods School for the 2024-25 school year. Specialized setting classes will also be expanded to include Grade 6 students.

Grade Configuration Changes at Valley View School:

• Valley View School will expand from a kindergarten to Grade 5 school to a kindergarten to Grade 6 school for the 2024-25 school year.
• This means that current Grade 5 students in the regular and Science programs will remain at Valley View School for the 2024-25 school year.

Grade Configuration Changes at West Dover School:

• West Dover School will expand from a kindergarten to Grade 5 school to a kindergarten to Grade 6 school for the 2024-25 school year.
• This means that current Grade 5 students will remain at West Dover School in the 2024-25 school year.

Grade Configuration Changes at Ian Bazalgette School:

• Ian Bazalgette School will change from a Grade 6 to 9 school to a Grade 7 to 9 school in the 2024-25 school year.

What is happening to the Science Program at Valley View and Ian Bazalgette Schools?

Grade configuration changes at Valley View and Ian Bazalgette Schools will impact students in both regular and Science programs. Grade 5 students in the Science and regular programs will remain at Valley View School to complete Grade 6 starting in the 2024-25 school year.

How do I register for school next year?

Kindergarten registrations for the 2024-25 school year begin in January 2024. For more information on how to register, please visit our website.

How will students get to school?

Students are eligible for transportation to their designated school if they live beyond the walk zone. Visit Busing & Transportation for more information, or to register for transportation, visit MyCBE.
