Greetings West Dover Families
Welcome back to school after Winter Break. We had a very good first week back to school. Mr Link and Ms Lanyon's classes went on a field trip to Fish Creek Park. This coming week, Ms Waluchow and Ms Bobbie's classes will be going on a field trip this coming week to Fish Creek Park on Tuesday, Jan 13. If you have a security clearance with our school and would consider volunteering that would be great. We are required to have an appropriate ratio of adults to children on our field trips and that means we always require a few parents to come along. If you haven't completed the security clearance paperwork, and would consider doing so, please contact Ms Nicholls in the office at 403-777-8260..
This coming Wednesday, Jan 14 is our monthly School Council meeting. At this meeting, Mr Strum will be sharing information about the upcoming provincial math assessments for grades K-3. If you are wondering what these are about and would like to see a sample assessment, please plan on attending. The meeting takes place at 6pm in the Learning Commons at our school.
On the horizon is our cross country ski week with Foothills Ski Club for our grade 3-6 students. This will take place on Jan 19-21. During this week we need some parent volunteers to help put ski boots on and off of children to help us have more on snow instruction by getting our gear on quickly. During ski week, our K-Gr2 students will be snowshoeing - it will be a real winter activity week.
A reminder to please not drive into the staff parking lot on the west side of the school, as this creates some hazards with children arriving at school. If you are dropping off on the west side of the school, please use the lower parking lot or the road to park.
Looking forward to another fantastic week of learning
Roy Strum, Principal
