Greetings West Dover Families

As we enter the final week of school for the 23-24 school year, I'd like to thank all of you for a wonderful year at school.  Parents play a vital role in the success at school for your children.  I appreciate the many, many contributions of parents to our success at school.  Thank you for your support in making school a welcoming, safe, caring, and inclusive environment for everyone, where every child learns and every child succeeds.

A look back over school year brings many stories of success for children.  Improved reading achievement, improved achievement in understanding number, and improvements in a sense of wellbeing and resilience have brought our school to a wonderful place.  As i look back over the year i think about the incredible whole school field trip to Drumheller's Tyrell Museum, the residencies with Calgary Campus Open Minds at the Science Centre with our grade 2s and 5s, our incredible concerts and monthly assemblies, our June Carnival family event and 182 days of incredible learning opportunities for kids.  Indigenous People's day was held on June 21 and included learning on the land experiences for our whole school and over the month of June we have celebrated Indigenous History Month and Pride month, recognizing and learning about the important contributions of Indigenous people and LGBTQ people to Canadian society.

A couple of important things coming up this week.  Our year end assembly is on Thursday, June 27.  Please arrive for 1015am.  The assembly will be in the gym.  Thursday June 27 is our final day of school.  This day is a half day of school for all students.  Students will be dismissed for the day at 1130am.  Please ensure you have planned for a half day on Thursday.  Report cards are available on Wednesday, June 26 on your mycbe account.

Wishing you all a fantastic summer break!
