Greetings West Dover Families,
This coming week there are a few events of note. On Wednesday, May 14, School Council will be hosting its monthly meeting in the Learning Commons. On the agenda this month will be some information sharing about grade 6 Provincial Achievement Tests. This is the first school year in a number of years that we have had PATs at our school. The session will inform parents about PATs are, when they will be undertaken, how you can find out how your child has done, how we prepare children for writing PATs and ideas on how you can support your child through the process. 5:30-6:30 PM in the Learning Commons on Wed May 14.
Also on Wednesday May 14, Ms McGill's grade 3-4 class will be doing a field trip to the Calgary Zoo. Looking ahead to Friday May 16, it is important to know that there will be no school that day. It is a day set aside for Professional Learning. One of the focuses at the day will be Teachers developing deeper understanding of supporting students identified as English as an Additional Language students. Over one third of our students at West Dover speak a different language other than English at home.
Looking forward to another fantastic week of learning.

Principal
