Greetings West Dover Families

We would like to welcome a couple of new teachers to our staff.  We were able to secure some additional funding to create a new grade 3-4 class.  Ms Tanya Moir will be the teacher in the new class.  She will be sharing teaching duties until winter break with Ms Geena Dhaliwal.  The new grade 3-4 class will be in  room 26.  Welcome to the new teachers.

There are a few events coming up before winter break.  Our winter concert will be held in early December, followed by our family skate night on rollerblades.  Book off your thursday evenings in December to attend these events.  More details to follow.

We aim to create a welcoming, caring, safe, and inclusive learning environment at West Dover School where every child has a sense of belonging.  We welcome parent volunteers during the school days.  If you are interested in volunteering, please talk to your child's teacher about this. We have a very diverse community at West Dover School.  Almost 40% of our students speak a different language at home than English. More than 15%  of our students identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Metis.  At our school we embrace diversity.  Everyone is welcome.  Everyone belongs.  We work hard to ensure our school is free of all forms of discrimination that targets anthing found in the Alberta Human Rights Code, the Education Act, and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, including, but not limited to ethnicity, culture, family configuration, socio-economic status,  sexual orientation, gender identity, language, and family traditions.   At public school, we welcome everybody and respect and embrace the diversity that exists in our community.

We are lucky to have Valleyview Park across the road from us.  Classes use that space often for learning on the land sessions, related to science, art, social studies, and writing learning.  Look for images of our learning at Valleyview on our video monitor in the entrance to our school where we showcase some of the learning taking in our school on the screen there.

Looking forward to another fantastic week of learning
