Greetings West Dover Families
What an incredible week we had last week. Through the week, Mr Sawatzky's grade 5-6 class participated in the Calgary Campus Open Minds program at the Arts Commons downtown, and Ms German's grade 3-4 class participated in Open Minds at the Calgary Zoo. On Thursday after school we hosted a CommuniTea event for our First Nations, Metis, and Inuit families - this was a chance to build some connections with these families. Also, we had a Principal from Guxhagen, Hesse, Germany at our school for the week. Christine Siemon was on an exchange with me, Mr Strum. This was Christine week of learning about how school operates in Canada and at West Dover. I had the same opportunity from July 1-5 in Germany to learn about how school operates in Germany. Christine noted to staff on Friday that some of things she noticed about our school that are different from schools in Germany are that our Teachers are very purposeful about the kind of feedback and the way the feedback is delivered to students, always attending to childrens' sense of wellbeing.
Upcoming this Week
- Monday, Oct 14 - Thanksgiving - no school
- Tuesday, Oct 15 - Alex Dental Bus is at school working with children whose parents have consented around their dental health
A Couple of Reminders
- there are some online forms that many of you will have completed at your mycbe account. A reminder to completed the demographics forms and media consent forms online
- a reminder to complete and send in your student health forms if you haven't done so yet. This contains important information that we require for all students going to our school.
Looking forward to another fantastic week of learning
