Greetings West Dover Families

A couple of things of note for the upcoming week.  This coming week on Thursday, Oct 31 is Halloween.  There are a few important things we want to share about preparing your children to come to school on Oct 31.

  • Children can arrive at school in morning in their halloween costume
  • Costumes can not include face coverings, or masks at school.  It is important that we can properly identify children who are in the building.
  • Costumes can not include accessories that are meant to look like weapons including things like:  light sabers, swords, knifes, guns, rifles. If you are in doubt, please leave the accessory at home.
  • We will have an assembly on Oct 31 at 145pm
  • Please do not send candy, cupcakes, cake or other treats to school on Oct 31.  It is school board policy only distribute healthy food choices.
  • If your child has an inflatable costume, they will be allowed to inflate it at 1:30 in preparation for the Halloween assembly but not before.
  • Halloween is an optional celebration - we allow costumes to school because it is an important cultural activity for children in Canada.  Children are not required to wear a costume.  There will be many kids who choose not to wear a costume, and that is ok.

Looking forward to another fantastic week of learning,

Roy Strum, Principal
