Greetings West Dover Families,

Fall break is currently underway. Our first day back to school is Wednesday, Nov 15, 2023.

I'd like to welcome Rebecca Tanner as our new lunchroom supervisor in Kindergarten and Grade 5 lunchroom supervisor. Also, I'd like to let our community know that Lana Christmas is now our new Lead Lunch Supervisor. Welcome Rebecca and Lana into your new roles at West Dover School. We have a couple of student teachers from the University of Calgary in our school. Jennifer Lane is the student teacher in Ms Hill's Kindergarten class. Daniela Lozano is the student teacher in Mr Sawatzky's Grade 5 class. Welcome student teachers. I'd also like to let you know that our music teacher, Ms Donnelly, is at school on Monday and Wednesday mornings for the remainder of the school year providing targeted reading intervention support with Grade 3, 4, and 5 classes. We've also been able to extend our Physical Education teacher, Ms McDonald's time to include Friday mornings through to the end of the school year.

As we move into colder weather, please send your child with winter boots, snowpants, jackets, and mitts. We do have some sets of winter clothing in our clothing cupboard that we can give children. Let us know if we can be of some help.

A reminder to please not enter the staff parking lot in the morning and afternoon to drop off or pick up children. Please drop off children in the lower parking lot or on 28 St SE on the west side of the school if your children enter on the west side. If your children enter on the east side/playground side of the school, please drop your children off in the Dover Community Centre parking lot rather than in the bus zone on 30 Ave SE. Thank you for your help with these items. Safety is a top priority.
