Sunday Message Oct. 1 | Patrols, Kindergarten Classrooms, Busy September, Forms

Greetings West Dover Families

A couple of information items. Crosswalk safety patrols have started up again.  The city improved the cross walk over the summer.  Our grade 5 students along with Mr Sawatzky are leading the safety patrol work again this school year.  I'd like to make you aware of some great work happening in our building.  Ms Bobbie's grade 4 class has been engaging with indigenous ways of learning through daily or regular 'learning on the land' experiences.  Ms Bobbie is making strong connections with curriculum while students are immersed in the natural world on our school property or over at Valleyview Park.

Our kindergarten classes are moving into two different classrooms starting Oct 2.  This is as a result of our kindergarten registrations exceeding our expectations.

I wanted to let you know as well that our Grade 2s and 3s have finished a busy September which included a number provincial literacy and numeracy assessments.  Our whole school has been working hard on our diagnostic assessment work which will guide the next steps in instruction in reading and math for the next 8 week learning cycle.  Please ask your child's teacher about the reading and math assessments that your children have been.  All our Grade 2-5 students have been engaged with these diagnostic assessments.  K and 1s have been doing assessment work as well.

A reminder to please ensure you have completed the online registration paperwork that the CBE will have sent you a link for through SchoolEngage.

Looking forward to another fantastic week of learning
