There are some changes at all schools in Alberta this year - the province has mandated that all personal mobile devices are not permitted to be used at school except for in some circumstances related to medical or learning not able to be met in any other way. At West Dover School we will be using the Away for the Day policy - meaning that students will deactivate their phones and place them in a bin in their classroom upon arrival at school and retrieve those items at the bell at the end of the day. Devices will be stored in a secure location. We encourage families not to send personal mobile devices to school if possible - this includes cell phones, tablets, smart watches, gaming devices. In additional all social media apps will have access disabled on all of our CBE networks. If you have questions, please let me know.
This week you will receive from the office a school package that includes a number of important forms to be returned including:
- health information form
- student code of conduct
- acceptable use of technology
We are looking forward to another fantastic year at West Dover School. Our school culture is one where children feel safe, welcome, included, and cared for. Please know we welcome involvement of parents in our school community. If you have time to volunteer in class for a morning or afternoon, please let us know. You are very welcome at West Dover School. We value the strong sense of collaboration and ocmmunity that comes from parental involvement in our school community.
Welcome to West Dover School!
